Thomas joined ASTeC in 2019 after studying for his PhD in Accelerator Physics at the Cockcroft Institute and University of Manchester. Prior to this he had received his Masters degree in Physics from the University of Manchester. His PhD thesis was titled "Development of novel applications of dielectric wakefield structures for electron accelerators".
During his PhD studies Tom completed several experiments as part of the first CLARA User exploitation program. Currently he works on further developing the dielectric wakefield program at ASTeC and supporting other users deliver successful experiments at CLARA. Research interests include novel longitudinal beam diagnostics and utilising dielectric wakefields to improve machine efficiency.
