ASTeC and Cockcroft Institute hosted a visit by the Thailand Light Source on 6th November to discuss a number of areas of common interest. Top of the list was the commissioning of the former SRS multipole wiggler which has been sent on loan by ASTeC to Thailand.
The Thailand delegation were also keen to discuss the design and fabrication of a new wiggler with assistance from ASTeC and Technology Department. In order to increase the accelerator skills within Thailand they intend to send a young researcher in 2013 to the Cockcroft Institute to carry out a PhD on magnet design under the supervision of Jim Clarke and Ben Shepherd, ASTeC and David Newton, Liverpool University.
