History

Anthony began his career at Daresbury as a support scientist with the Non-Crystalline Diffraction Group before becoming the station scientist for beamline 16.1 of the Synchrotron Radiation Source (SRS). Here, he specialised in rapid, simultaneous small- and wide-angle X-ray scattering experiments with particular emphasis on the dynamic processing of polymer systems.

In 2006 he joined the Experimental Systems Group where he was responsible for the Optics Metrology Laboratory, overseeing the maintenance and development of the instrumentation necessary for accurately quantifying the physical dimensions and surface quality of ultra-high precision optics intended for applications in Synchrotron and Free-Electron Laser (FEL) facilities. His research included photon transport design, optics metrology and studying the complex damage mechanisms associated with intense, ultra-short duration photon beams with application to FEL photon transport optics.

Anthony now works within ASTeC to promote the commercial and academic uptake of its facilities and services. ASTeC has a unique range of skills, knowledge and technologies which can be harnessed to help businesses surpass their technology development aspirations, thereby benefitting the UK economy, and to fully realise the benefits of taxpayer-supported research for the general public as a whole.
