We are looking for high-tech start-ups and entrepreneurs across a range of sectors and technology areas who could benefit from the world leading knowledge and expertise of CERN, home of the Large Hadron Collider.

Expressions of interest to apply for the STFC CERN Business Incubation Centre programme are open until 31 March.

The innovative scheme provides a unique package of over £40,000 of funding, business support and 80 hours of free technical assistance from both STFC and CERN.  It is open to both existing companies wanting to utilise the capabilities and expertise of CERN to solve a technical challenge and also to entrepreneurs finding new applications for technology originally developed for high energy physics.  The sectors range from medical imaging, telecommunications and data management to security screening.

You do not have to have any previous relationship with either STFC or CERN to apply to join the BIC, and the process is simple. Begin by submitting an Expression of Interest which can be found on the ‘How to Apply’ (link opens in a new window) page.  This brief form will help the STFC CERN BIC to assess how they can work with you to develop CERN IP into real impact for your business.

If your area of interest fits with one or more areas of CERN IP, or we have the expertise to work with you to solve a technical challenge, you’ll be invited to spend a day at CERN and explore the possibilities further by talking to relevant scientists, engineers and technology transfer experts. 

From there, you’ll need to complete a more detailed application form, and if successful, you could be part of the STFC CERN BIC and on the fast-track to success by October.
