Congratulations to Dr. Bill Kyle who has recently been awarded his PhD. Bill was supervised by Rob Appleby of the University of Manchester and Peter Williams of ASTeC. Bill's thesis is titled “Characterisation of Coherent Radiation in Short-bunch Linac-driven FELs" and is a detailed theoretical and experimental study of coherent radiation in CLARA at Daresbury and the Max-IV short pulse facility in Sweden. Bill has now taken up a post-doctoral position at Max-IV where he is conducting studies in preparation for an upgrade of their facility to a soft X-ray FEL.
