Delegates from ESS visited Daresbury between 7-8 July for formal acceptance testing of the first UK In-Kind contribution to the ESS, totalling £1m. ESS were delighted with the work STFC have delivered and formally accepted the new state of the art vacuum facilities, which is being delivered to Lund for final acceptance testing at the end of July.
The formal acceptance of the new outgassing (see photo on right), calibration and integration facilities follows the delivery of the particle test facility earlier in the year. ESS congratulated the team on their 'great work' which gives them real confidence that future In-Kind contributions from STFC will be delivered to the same high standards.
The new facilities will allow the ESS vacuum group to conduct a programme of innovative research that will help make key design choices for the ESS.
