Susan Smith was invited to talk at the IET annual leadership seminar held In May 2012. 85 engineers attended an inspirational leadership seminar organised by the IET and hosted by Professor Murray Dalziel, Head of the University of Liverpool Management School. Susan Smith’s talk demonstrated the importance of having a vision through the story of the formation and development of Daresbury Lab, ending with the vision developing now at Daresbury to build a next generation Light Source at the heart of the Science and Innovation Campus driving the connection between industry and science.

The other speakers were Dr Mathias Monje, Plant Manager of Getrag Ford in Halewood and
Neil Norman, founder and CEO of Human Recognition Systems in Wavertree. After the talks delegates were able to put questions to the speakers who formed a panel.
