On the 9th February 2017, STFC Daresbury Laboratory hosted the 5th ESS SRF Collaboration Meeting, attended by all stakeholders in the design, fabrication and implementation of the ESS SRF LinAc.
This is an ongoing quarterly series of meetings to coordinate effort between all the contributors to the elliptical cavity cryomodules to be supplied to ESS.
STFC made the most of this opportunity to show progress and current status of the design of the Vertical Test Facility in D-block, and to progress many technical and scheduling topics across the ESS cryomodules programme.
The meeting also highlighted the progress being made by all other contributors including the design and prototyping of the cryomodules by CEA, the medium beta cavities being procured by LASA, and a strengthening collaboration to define all of the quality control measures for cavity series production.
Particular highlights included a summary of prototype medium beta cavity tests showing excellent performance above specification, ideas on how to simplify elements of the cavity series production, and how to standardise QA/QC and engineering data management.
The next meeting is scheduled to be hosted by INFN LASA in Milan, in May 2017.
